Employer Nomination Scheme - Subclass 186 Visa
The Employer Nomination Scheme (‘ENS’) is for Australian employers wishing to sponsor an overseas candidate to work in their business.
Have you found a business willing to employ and sponsor you? This visa may be for you. The Employer Nomination Scheme (‘ENS’) is for Australian employers wishing to sponsor an overseas candidate to work in their business. ENS is ideal for employers who have skills shortages and wish to fill these shortages with candidates who are not Australian citizens or permanent residents.
There are three streams in the Subclass 186 stream –
- the Direct Entry stream
- the Temporary Residence Transition stream
- the Agreement stream
Your circumstances and your employer’s circumstances will dictate which stream is right for you.

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme Visa – Subclass 187
The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) Visa – Subclass 187, is for visa applicants who work in a regional area.

Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457)
The Temporary Work (Skilled) visa - subclass 457 is for Australian employers who would like to sponsor a candidate to work in their business. From April 2017 significant changes have been announced that impact current and future applications. The subclass will no longer exist from March 2018 and will be replaced with the TSS visa. Given the uncertainty for applicants at this time, we recommend contacting us for information on your specific circumstances.

In order to obtain this visa, it is important your employer is an approved sponsor and has nominated you in a skilled occupation. For some occupations there are also requirements that your sponsor demonstrate they have complied with labour marketing testing requirements.

Does this visa give me permanent residency?
This visa is a temporary resident visa. The visa allows you and your family to live and work in Australia for a period specified on your visa grant notice. This approved visa period will dependent on your offer of employment. This visa can give you temporary residence for up to four years at first instance. If you have held your 457 visa for two years, you may eligible to apply for your permanent residency. Please contact us to discuss your options.
