Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888)
The Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888) is the second stage of the Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188). This visa allows you to obtain your permanent residency if you have met the requirements of the subclass 188.
To obtain this visa you need to continued to be nominated by a state or territory government agency or Austrade on behalf of the Australian government. You will need to show evidence to demonstrate that either the state/territory or Austrade has not withdrawn their nomination. Alternatively, if you require a nomination from a different nominator to that of your subclass 188, you will need to show evidence that this has been obtained.

- Are you the holder of a Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188)?
- Are you the holder of a Special Category visa (subclass 444)?
- Are you committed to maintaining and continuing business activities in Australia?
- Have you had ‘ongoing involvement’ and an ‘ownership interest’ in a business for a minimum of two years?

Yes! This visa is a permanent residency visa. On grant of this visa you will become an Australian permanent resident.

The Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) is part of the Business Innovation and Investment Programme.
This visa has a number of streams. Four primary streams and two other streams which permit applicants to apply for extensions of their visa.
In order to apply for this visa, you must be nominated and invited to apply. To be invited, an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect needs to be submitted. We are able to do this for you. Nominations are then provided by either a state or territory government or Austrade on behalf of the Australian government.
To be granted this visa you must meet a ‘points test’. You will be awarded points based on –
- your age
- your English language ability
- the types of qualifications you hold
- your experience in business or investments
- your net personal and business assets
- business turnover of your primary business
- your financial assets
- your investor or business experience

The Business Talent (Permanent) visa (subclass 132) is part of the Business Innovation and Investment Programme. This visa has two streams –
- Significant Business History stream
- Venture Capital Entrepreneur stream
In order to apply for this visa, you must be nominated and invited to apply. To be invited, an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect needs to be submitted. We are able to do this for you. Nominations are provided by either a state or territory government.

- Do you have significant history running a business, and believe you are a high-calibre business owner or part owner?
- Have you sourced venture capital funding from a member of the Australian Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL)?
- Do you have net business assets and personal assets of a minimum AUD1.5 million or an annual business turnover of at least AUD3 million?
